BAKE CULTURE
Bake Culture, a trendy Taiwan-based bakery, just opened one of two New York locations at 48 Bowery. The concept was founded by the international pop celebrities, Chun Wu, Vanness Wu and Calvin Chen. The shop, located just to the south of Canal Street, offers a wide selection of pastries, including Taiwanese pineapple cakes, egg tarts, fresh fruit tarts and traditional chocolate cake.
Because this was the first US franchise, we had free rein over the look and feel of the brand. As the Art Director, I developed Bake Culture’s brand story and overall visual aesthetic. I was inspired by their quote speaking to the experience one would have when visiting Bake Culture, which is why we decided to elevate the brand and design it as a “museum for bread”. Bake Culture would not just be your average Asian bakery – it’s an entire experience that allows each customer to taste a variety of pastries and baked goods, with flavors inspired by different parts of the world. With clean typography and stunning photography, we were able to put a new spin on this bakery, focusing on the experience and the culture behind the bread.
